NESST 2025
19th January 2025

Our Brilliant Beavers took part in their 2nd NESST Challenge Walk this year. Throughout their ramble, many challenges presented them, including an obstacle course and a game of guess what is in the bag. Some of our Beavers found not being able to open the bag a challenge, and the leaders enjoyed the wide range of guesses. A communication challenge using semaphore awaited them, including both sending and receiving messages. The Beavers worked effectively as a team to navigate their way around the Walesby, using a map and identifying the route they needed to take. The highlight was definitely the hot dogs and cookies waiting for them at the finish line!
In the evening it was the turn of our Super Scouts, supported by our Amazing Young Leaders. A 10 mile hike awaited them after they had planned out their route. With a late start time of 8:15pm, they were in for a very long walk. An unexpected coach journey took them to their starting point. Seven check points later, supporting four other groups who had got lost, they arrived tired but proud back at Walesby Camp Site at 2:30am. Everyone at 5th Stapleford are exceptionally proud of their teamwork, navigation skills and perseverance, especially walking an extra 3 miles!
